My thoughts on building a good neighbourhood

What makes a good neighbor?

Good neighbour is solely based on healthy interactions that includes communication, invitation, sharing, consideration, understanding and more depending upon the situation. All these naturally develop each time you meet. Starting with just a Hi and Bye could help you get your relationship stronger in the long run.

Meet and chat

Hi and bye are simple but powerful phrases that help whether you are an introvert or extrovert. Don’t think too much to give a Hi and Bye. This could be during a morning or evening walk or during gardening or while you leave the home. Make use of it to ensure you noticed your surroundings.

Be a good listener to your neighbour, hearing help you clear out your troubles to break that silence. Once you are good listener, start sharing your common concerns that might lead to a short conversation. Common concerns are those you face on a regular day. For instance, talking about the raccoon visiting your garbage bin or the racing cars on your street.

Inviting your neighbour on a special day would take your relationship further deep. Including all immediate neighbours helps build a friendly social atmosphere. Keep in mind that you can share your food and introduce your culture without being too conventional.

Icebreakers are one of many ways to make your neighbours comfortable at social gatherings. Watch different games in YouTube videos and choose what might suit your neighbours interests.

Together, you can do a lot more. Once you have that initial bonding with your neighbours try to be honest and considerate.

Happy Neighbouring!
